Mercedes Benz SUV Event
I was invited for the Mercedes Benz SUV Event : Test Drive the Best Drive at Sahara Club this Thursday.
The event was alright , although I was expecting for more. Mercedes support staff’s and coordinator’s were very courteous and hospitable to all their guests which was well in tune with their brand image.
This was an SUV event and one held by Mercedes who are the most innovative and creative in this business ,so obviously I was expecting for more, like artificially made off-road tracks with steep slopes and rough patch’s to test their SUV’s robustness , ride and handling capabilities. If this was done, it would have put Mercedes in a totally different level compared to other luxury brands in Kuwait (So now, this is a good opportunity for other brands. Lexus are you reading this ?).
A car I would have loved to check out but could not due to the lack of time.
Before attending the event, the first problem was finding the venue, which was a secluded spot and away from the city. It was very difficult to find since it was totally dark with road diversions and I could find a few people lost just like me and trying to find the place.
Once we found the place , we were greeted by some very hospitable staff’s from Mercedes.
We had to wait a bit to get the registration done though, which was depressing but we helped ourselves to some sweets and drinks while waiting. Once registration was done, we had to sign a disclaimer form and had to wait again for our test drive car’s to arrive.(did I mention we had already done an online registration for 6 p.m.)
Anyway’s since it was late and we were the last batch, the event route was shortened, so there was not much to know or say about their SUV’s except that their ML 63 was astoundingly powerful. Yes, I drove even the 63( and the 500 later ). Since I didn’t have much time with the ML 500 , can’t say much about it as well.
Some really good compliments from the event.
Positives:
1) Staff’s and coordinators were very hospitable and courteous.
2) Final questionnaire to be filled was short and concise.
3) The ambiance at the registration desk and waiting room was pleasant.
4) The event was decent in general and the complimentary gifts were good(quality stuff as one would expect from Mercedes).
Negatives:
1) The location of event was not easy to find.
2) Not enough time on the short road course.
3) No off road courses were made or planned.
4) No demonstration given on their technology and safety fronts in their vehicles which is should be one of the highlights of their vehicles.
Overall Experience: Good
This event is a very good move by Mercedes Kuwait to keep potential customers aware of their brand but it could have been done a lot better by showcasing their SUV technologies and giving a brief tour of their technological prowess or off road capabilities of their vehicles by driving through an artificial made or natural off-road course to potential customers just like how Range Rover does for their customers.

Seems like a pretty ordinary event. Mercedes should do it like how Audi and Range Rover does it , over the hills and mountains.
Nice 🙂
